BIO

Maggie Long is a free-lance hair and makeup artist with over 10 years of experience, specializing in theatrical makeup and wig design. Though she is a native of Colorado, she decided to pursue her hair and makeup training on the west coast in San Francisco, California, at the San Francisco Institute of Esthetics and Cosmetology (SFIEC). It is there that she found her passion. She thrived at SFIEC and wanted to know about hair and makeup in every form,  from daywear to beauty to theatrical. She graduated in 2006 with a completion in Cosmetology and is licensed in California and Colorado. She continued her education after graduating by taking classes from Kryolan International Makeup, and completing an internship in wig making and makeup at American Conservatory Theater (ACT).

In the early years of her career,  Maggie worked as an educator teaching new professionals hair cutting, coloring, and styling, along with makeup back at SFIEC and Academy for Salon Professionals in Santa Clara, California. She also worked behind the chair in the Sunset district of San Francisco, while continuing her passion of theatrical wigs at ACT. Finding her drive early gave Maggie  time to perfect many  professional attributes and skills  which  make her successful today.

In 2011, the Colorado mountains called Maggie back again. With the birth of her nephew, she knew it was time to come home and be closer to her family. Knowing her passion lies in working with clients during the day while helping actors and singers get into character at night, she knew becoming a independent contractor was the her path. She started working at Double Dutch Hair Studio in the Baker district of Denver to see hair cut and coloring clients. During this time she was also working with the classic voice students at Lamont School of Music at University of Denver throughout the year  doing wig and makeup design.  After three wonderful years with the women at Double Dutch, she  decided to work in the next up-and-coming district in Denver, the Rino district. She started working at Ashe Atelier in the fall of 2014.  This is where Maggie began being  asked to help on film shoots and commercials. As Denver grew, so did the area. Ashe Atelier decided to move further south, so you can now find Maggie at Village Solo in the 5 points district of Denver, still helping the students of DU, and being wig mistress for Colorado Ballet’s Nutcracker.

Maggie has also found love in helping brides feel their best on their special day. Launching her bridal hair and makeup services officially in 2013, she has enjoyed this new found part of her career. Please inquire more in the bridal section for photos and pricing.

Maggie does find time to travel, see live music, and also enjoys the mountains of Colorado where she is an avid snowboarder,  She loves spending time with her family and friends, and her chihuahua Jameson. Please feel free to contact Maggie directly with any questions for any of your beauty needs!
